Financial Aid

Financial assistance is available to students who might otherwise be unable to attend or continue their education. Students may apply singularly or in various combinations depending upon the degree of need and funding option eligibility criteria.

Financial assistance is intended to supplement a student’s resources not to fully fund a student.

Autry Technology Center has officially withdrawn from the Federal Student Loan program and cannot certify loan application.

Financial Assistance Options

Federal Pell Grant Program – Autry’s Federal School Code is 013530

This is a federally funded grant program which provides funds for educational expenses to adult students who attend post-secondary education. If the student withdraws from school, the grant payments will terminate. Grant amounts are determined yearly based on federal funding of the Pell Grant program.

General Criteria for Eligibility

You must be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program for the purpose of obtaining a certificate.

You must be a U.S. citizen or national or an eligible non-citizen.

You must have financial need.

You must have a high school diploma, GED or can show ability to benefit. Those students not having a diploma or GED must take the Accuplacer to show ability to benefit from the program. The Accuplacer is available, by appointment, in the Education Enhancement Center on the Autry Technology Center campus.

You must not be in default on any Title IV, HEA student loan and you must not owe an overpayment of any Title IV, HEA grant received for attendance at any institution.

You must be registered with Selective Service (males only, at least 18 years of age and born after December 1959).

You must maintain satisfactory academic progress in the course of study you are pursuing according to the standards of Autry Technology Center.

Applying for Federal Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Officer is available to assist students Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The second Tuesday of each month, September through April, the Financial Aid Officer is available between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. 580-242-2750 ext. 136.

To complete the on-line application:

1. Access the Department of Education PIN web site at www.pin.ed.gov to request a PIN. The PIN is your electronic signature and allows you to access your financial aid information and sign your on-line application. If you are required to include your parent’s income information, your parent will also need a PIN.

2. FAFSA on the Web worksheets are available to assist you in the on-line application process. Contact the Financial Aid Office, 580-242-2750 ext. 136.

3. When you are ready to complete your on-line application, access the Department of Education web site at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

To complete a paper Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):

1. Call 1-800-433-3243 and request a single copy of the FAFSA be mailed to you.

When you receive notification that your application has been processed, contact the Financial Aid Office at Autry Technology Center. If you have included Autry’s Federal School Code on your application, your data will be available to Autry Technology Center.

Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program

You must meet all of the general eligibility requirements listed for the Federal Pell Grant, must be an Oklahoma resident, attend an approved Oklahoma school and must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Oklahoma's Promise / Oklahoma Higher Learning Program (OHLAP)

Students may use their OHLAP benefits for eligiable programs at Autry.  Contact the Financial Aid office to confirm course eligibility.

Autry Technology Center 13th, 14th & 15th yr Tuition Scholarship

These tuition scholarships are available to students who lived in the Autry Technology Center district their senior year and who meet the entrance requirements for Autry courses. Counselors use high school transcripts, test scores, attendance records, and behavior records to determine if the student meets entrance requirements.

Workforce Investment Act

Funding is available for students, who qualify, to assist with retaining or updating employability skills. Contact the Workforce Oklahoma office at, 580-234-6049 for program and application requirements.

Physician’s Manpower Scholarship/Loan - www.pmtc.ok.gov

There are two types of scholarships/loans, matching and non- matching, for students attending the Practical Nursing program. Both types of scholarships/loans require a work obligation as repayment. Students must be accepted into the PN Course before applying.

Application deadline – is usually the last week of June through the first week of July.  To check on actual deadlines see www.pmtc.ok.gov or call (405) 843-5667.

Bureau of Indian Affairs

Students should contact their tribal agency for information on educational benefits.  The Financial Aid Offcie will provide information to the tribal agency as needed.

Department of Rehabilitation Services

Students who may qualify for Visual and Rehabilitation assistance will be referred to the local rehabilitation office for determination of eligibility.

Otha Grimes Memorial Scholarship/Francis Tuttle Scholarship

This scholarship is usually offered twice a year to full-time students who might not qualify for other financial aid.

Scholarships are to be used for expenses that directly relate to a student attending a career tech class. Allowable expenses include: tuition, books, uniforms, conference registration fees, school supplies and childcare if not paid by another source. 

Veterans Benefits – www.gibill.va.gov  

Students may apply for education benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs website.  The website also includes courses that are approved for VA Benefits at Autry.

Oklahoma National Guard Tuition Waiver

Eligible members of the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard may be entitled to have their tuition waived while attending an Oklahoma Career Tech. This waiver applies only to full time programs of training.

Oklahoma GI Bill

Benefits under this bill allow tuition free training to Oklahoma veterans who meet the criteria. Contact the Financial Aid Office for eligibility requirements, students must provide DD214 information.

Vance Higher Education and Vocational Technical Scholarship

Scholarships may be available for active duty military personnel, their spouses or dependents or any Department of Defense civilian working at Vance Air Force Base. Scholarship applications are available through the Education Office at Vance Air Force Base.

Other Scholarships

The Financial Aid Office will notify current students of scholarship offerings that become available.

Autry Technology Center Educational Foundation

The Foundation offers two forms of assistance-- emergency grants and scholarships.  These awards are based on financial need.

Emergency grants or “egrants”

Egrants provide emergency assistance to current students to allow them to continue their education at Autry Technology Center. Applications can be obtained at the front reception desk. Egrants have an open deadline. Application response will usually be provided within 48 hours.

Egrants are for non-tuition related emergencies only. Examples include transportation, utility and medical needs. Checks will be made out to the provider of the service, not to the applicant.

Scholarships provide financial assistance to potential and current students to allow them to begin or to continue their education at Autry Technology Center. Applications can be obtained from the front reception desk.

Foundation scholarships are designed to assist students who have exhausted other outlets for assistance. Funding is for tuition, transportation, supplies, uniforms or other expenses.

Scholarship deadlines

Application forms must be complete and all attachments must be presented for the application to be considered.  Applications are due at the front reception desk the 1st and 15th of the month by 4:00 p.m. for consideration at the following week’s committee meeting. If the 1st or 15th falls on a weekend, applications may be turned in the following Monday by noon. Applications arriving after the deadline will be considered at a later meeting.

The Oklahoma CareerTech Foundation works to support student opportunities and success through 29 technology center districts spanning Oklahoma. Foundation staff work with CareerTech staff to identify and pursue opportunities that are aligned with CareerTech's goal, "To prepare Oklahomans to succeed in the workplace, in education, and in life."

Through generous support, scholarships exist for students who wish to pursue or continue their education and aid is available for those who wish to teach within the CareerTech system.
